Things to Know about NDA(National Defence Academy) Exams

What is NDA?

NDA, or National Defense Academy is an academy which provides training to recruited soldiers of Navy, Army and Air Force. It is the first academy of its kind in the world. The academy is located in Pune, Maharashtra.

At a time, 390 selected candidates are provided training in the academy. Out of 390 vacancies available, 205 will be army recruits, 72 will be  air force recruits and rest 55 will be navy recruits. Only male candidates can apply to the NDA examination.

The selection is based on the entrance exam conducted by NDA. The entrance examinations are conducted twice a year. The examination are conducted every year in months August and April.

NDA Examination details

The NDA is two phase examination. The first phase is the written examination. Written exam is conducted by UPSC.

Second phase is the Intelligence and Personality Test, and it is conducted by the Service Selection Board under Indian army. The candidate who passes in both the phases will be selected.

The NDA written entrance examination is a two paper examination each of duration 2.5 hours(150 minutes).
The first paper is out of 300 marks and comprises of 120 mathematics questions. The questions will be asked from sections- Algebra, Matrices and determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Vector algebra, Statistics and Probability.

The second paper will have is out of 600 marks(150 questions). Out of 600 marks, questions for 200 marks will be asked from English section. The remaining 400 mark questions will be asked from sections Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current events.

Age Requirements

The age requirement is that candidate should have completed 15 years of age and should not exceed 18 years. The age is calculated according to date January 1.

Educational Requirements

The candidate should have completed plus two with Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects. Those awaiting results can also apply.
