Facts about the Tallest statue 'The Statue of Unity'

The statue of unity was erected to honor the memory of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Iron Man
of India.

It was Sardar Patel who played significant role in the unifying 562 princely states to one country, the Republic of India. For the same reason, Sardar Patel is also known as the 'Man of Unity' in India. In order to commemorate the efforts of Sardar Patel in building a unified India, the statue was named 'The Satue of Unity'.

The statue of unity has a height of 182 meters.

It was unveiled by the then Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on October 31, 2018. October 31 is the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The Statue of Unity was a dream project of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The statue of Iron Man of India is also made with iron. It took 5700 metric tonnes of steel to complete the Statue of Unity.

The iron used for building the statue was collected through 'Loha' campaign. A campaign through which used iron was collected from the farmers across the country, and was remolded to build the structure.

The statue is known as the 'Statue of Unity', because  to commemorate the efforts of Sardar Patel in uniting all the princely state and

It is also the tallest statue. which took the shortest time to complete. The staute was decided to complete in 42 months. It was completed, but in 33 months.

From the gallery of the statue of Liberty, one is able to see all the 200 Km long reservoir of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

It was Padmashri Ram Sutar who designed the Statue of Unity. Padmashri Ram Sutar is also the peron who designed Mahatma gandhi's statue at the Indian Parliament (Law House of India).
