Lord Ganesha(Ganapathi) Photos, Images and Wallpapers


Lord Ganesh according to the Hindu mythology is the remover of obstacles. Being the remover of obstacles, he is also called as Vigneshwara. The word 'Vigneshwara' means the remover of obstacles.

Lord Ganesha has the head of an elephant. Lord Ganesha, is the one who transcribed Mahabharatha from the recitals of Lord Vyasa.
Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord shiva and Godess Parvathi. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is the God of destruction. Lord Skandha is the younger brother of Lord Ganesha, according to Indian Hindu mythology. According to the scriptures, wives of Lord Ganesha are Ridhhi and Sidhhi. The sons of Lord Ganesha are Shubh and Labh.










It is said that worshipping of Ganesha idol made of silver grants us long life. It is also said that worshipping of Ganesh idol made of green jade grants us a divine intellect and wisdom. Sumukha, Ekadanta, Kapila, Gajakarna, Lambodara, Vikath, Vidhnanashaka, Vinayaka, Dhumraketu, Ganadhayaksha, Bhalchandra, Gajanana and Ganapati are some of the names of Lord Ganesha. Lord ganesh has a broken tusk. Due to this, Lord Ganesha is also called as Ekadanta. The word 'Eka' means 'one' and 'danta' means' teeth'.






Birthday of Ganesha is celebrated as Ganesha Chathurthi. Ganesh Chathurthi falls in August/September of the Gregorian calendar. On the day of Ganesh Chathurthi, temporary idol of Lord Ganesha is made. There will be a possession with this Ganesha idol and at the end of possession, the temporary idol is immersed in river.

Ganesha mantra is
"Vakratunda mahaakaaya 
Soorya koti samaprabha
nirvighnam kuru mein deva 
sarva kaaryashu sarvadaa".


People do Ganesha Puja before embarking on any new task to remove all obstacles. Mouse is the vehicle of Lord Ganesha.
